The children have been talking about Halloween and have been counting down the days until the big event. They have been making spiders and are in the process of making a spooky landscape.
On Wednesday, we will have a special snack and a Halloween story, and they will finish their landscape. Please do not send your children in with costumes. They will look forward to wearing them after school.
Sneaky Snake has taken the letters W, M, N, and Y. During Morning Meeting, one child said, quite seriously, that Sneaky Snake's cousin slipped into his room and went under his covers. "She is yellow," he said. (Our Sneaky Snake is purple.) Another boy wanted to add to the story and said that Sneaky Snake's cousin went into his room and bit him on the arm. Then we talked about how Sneaky Snake would never bite anyone and that she will talk to her cousin.
Some children have spontaneously been teaching us yoga. We have an illustrated book with yoga poses for children, and they have been using it to teach the class.
Later in the week, we will be planting a tree in the playground. We are also planning to make applesauce with apples from Secor Farms.
Thank you for coming on our pumpkin-picking trip. It was a wonderful day.
